The Twenty Second Universal Glorious QUR'AN Competition - Al-Azhar (2015 - 1436H)

Date of Competition: 18th to 23th April 2015 (29th Jumada Thani till 4 Ragab 1436)

The deadline for submitting application is 24th February 2015

Interviews will be held at the Centre as from 28th Feb & 1th March 2015

Applicants must attain the following level:

1. Memorisation of the Holy Qur'an - with knowledge with the rules of Tajweed
2. Under 25 years old, and never applied before.

(Please read the enclosed regulation sheet before submitting your application)

The competition has five branches:

The First branch: Memorizing all the Holy Qur'an with modulation (Tajweed) and intonation (Tarteel): understanding the verses, moral values along with the events of revelation of the Holy Qur'an (for Al-Azhar graduates and others)

The Second branch: Memorizing all the Holy Qur'an with modulation (Tajweed) and intonation (Tarteel), along with interpreting the twenty-ninth part of the Holy Qur'an, understanding the verses, moral values along with the events of revelation of the Holy Qur'an. (For NON Al-Azhar students or graduates and others)

The Third branch: Memorizing twenty parts of the Holy Qur'an with modulation (Tajweed) and intonation (Tarteel) from the first part to the twentieth part: understanding the verses, moral values along with the events of revelation of the Holy Qur'an. (For Al-Azhar graduates, NON-Arabic speakers and others)

The fourth branch: Memorizing eight parts of the Holy Qur'an with modulation (Tajweed) and intonation (Tarteel) from the Twenty-third part to the thirtieth part. (For NON-Al-Azhar graduates or students and NON-Arabic speakers)

The General Terms & Conditions:

1. The candidate must be acquainted with the strict rules and essence of reciting the Holy Qur'an.
2. He should not be one of the prominent reciters of the Holy Qur'an in the Muslim world, or a professional man of Tajweed and Tarteel in his native country, or a graduate of Al-Azhar.
3. The candidate is not allowed to change the branch he has stated in the application admitted to a lesser one.
4. The candidate should not be a winner of the last year competition, though he can apply to compete in another branch higher than what he had competed in the last year.
5. The candidate should not be more than 25 years old with no limit to the minimum age.
6. A blind candidate or a young one who is less than 12 years old can have only one companion, also one companion is sufficient for a group of competitors from one country.

The Egyptian Ministry will host all the competitors, their companions and arbitrators during the period of 18th until 23th April 2015. The Ministry will also undertake all expenses of airlines tickets and accommodation for the competitor, companions (as mentioned in term no.6) and arbitrators during their stay in Egypt.
