The London Central Mosque Trust & The Islamic Cultural Centre sign up to Westminster City Council's Sustainable City Charter.
6 August 2025 London

The London Central Mosque Trust & The Islamic Cultural Centre have officially signed Westminster City Council's Sustainable City Charter, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices. As one of the larger Islamic institutions in the UK, the pledge marks a significant step in uniting faith-based leadership with the City's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and build a greener future for all. The Charter encourages organisations across Westminster to take practical actions that support the council's ambition to become a net-zero city by 2040.

By joining the Charter, The London Central Mosque Trust & The Islamic Cultural Centre have committed to making sustainability a core part of the running operations - ranging from energy-saving initiatives within their facilities to raising environmental awareness among their congregation and the wider community. This partnership reflects a shared vision for climate action rooted in both civic duty and Islamic values of stewardship and care for the Earth.
We hope this participation sets an inspiring example for all faith and community organisations to join.
