Secretary General of the Commission of Fatwa and Sharia Affairs Participates in International Fatwa Conference - Cairo

Dr. Faid Mohammed Said, Secretary General of the Commission of Fatwa and Sharia Affairs and Chairman of the Sharia Committee at the European Council of Muslim Centres and Leaders - London, participated in the Tenth Annual International Fatwa Conference in Cairo, organised by Egypt's Dar al-Ifta and the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide under the title "Cultivating the Enlightened Mufti in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."
Dr. Faid presented a paper on "The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Fatwa: Rulings and Regulations," comparing AI-generated responses with official fatwas from recognised institutions. He stressed the irreplaceable role of the human mufti, the need for scholarly supervision of AI platforms, and the creation of Sharia-compliant digital tools.
On the sidelines, Dr. Faid met His Eminence the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Professor Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayad, and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb. The Grand Imam commended Dr. Said's efforts in serving Islam and Muslims in Europe and emphasised the importance of promoting coexistence, safeguarding identity, and integrating Muslim communities into wider society.
Dr Faid conveyed to His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and His Excellency the Grand Mufti of Egypt the greetings and sincere wishes of the Director General Dr Ahmad Aldubayan for continued success. In turn, the Grand Imam and the Grand Mufti extended their warm regards to the Director-General, praying for his lasting success and prosperity in the fulfillment of his duties and responsibilities.
This participation reflects the Commission's leading role in shaping global discussions on Islamic guidance in the digital era.
