The Council of Arab Ambassadors Meeting - London

3 May 2019

The Council of Arab Ambassadors held a meeting at the Kuwaiti Embassy in London.

During the meeting, the Director of the Islamic Cultural Center in London, Dr. Ahmad Al Dubayan gave a presentation to discuss the 'Phenomenon of Islamophobia and its Manifestations in the British society'.

Dr Dubayan said that the role of the Islamic Cultural Center was to support and work with the local communities, reflecting on the recently released Hate Crime figues by the Home Office which showed that 52% of all Hate Crime attacks last year targeted Muslims and only 12% targeted the Jews.

The ambassadors discussed with the Director of the Center the aspects of strengthening the relations between the spectrum of communities within the Muslim community. The talk also dealt with the cooperation between Muslims and other religions and the opportunities for supporting common issues for the benefit of the wider society within Britain.

The discussion also dealt with ways of activating Arab culture and cooperation with the Cultural Center in this regard.

The members of the Council including the Ambassadors of the Arab States and the Chairman of the Session, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Hinai, commended the Center for its role and its activities in serving the society, and praised its expansion in the cultural aspect and its openness to the wider communities.

The Council of Arab Ambassadors stressed the desire of the Arab Council to host Dr. Ahmad Al Dubayan; in the coming sessions to also discuss the cultural and social issues of interest to Arab and Islamic minorities.
