New Arabic Calligraphy 11 Week Course starting 23 September 2023

The ICC is pleased to announce the start of an Arabic Calligraphy course, allows you to learn the standard Arabic Calligraphy (Riqa'a script) which is a beautiful handwritten style still commonly used. You will learn more techniques of calligraphy for example; how to hold the pen while writing and how to cut it.

The course also contains an introduction to the history of Arabic Calligraphy; its types, schools, its development and its importance among other Islamic arts.

Riqa'a script

The Calligrapher: Mr Behnam Igzeer.

Mr Behnam Igzeer is a student of the well known Calligrapher; Yusuf Dhu Noon from Iraq.

Start Date: Saturday 23rd September 2023
Duration:11 weeks Course, 2 hours per week
Day and Time:Saturday from 11.00am to 1.15pm
Fee:£250 (course materials included)

The aim of the course is to provide a cultural knowledge of Arab-Islamic arts and the development of Arabic calligraphy in the Islamic civilization. The course will focus on Riqa'a calligraphy, which is characterised by aesthetics and wonderful geometries.

  • The London central Mosque cannot accept any responsibility for unforeseen changes in students' circumstances that may prevent their attendance for all or part of a course.
  • No refunds can be given for classes not attended.
  • Fees are not refundable once you have attended the first lesson.
  • Please note that, in the event whereby a class has to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, such as adverse weather conditions, the replacement class may have to take place on a different day.
  • Certificates will be given upon completion of the full course.
  • Places cannot be reserved in advance without payment.

  • Graduated from Mousel university in Iraq
  • A student of the well-known Calligrapher; Yusuf Dhu Noon in Iraq.
  • Studied all types of Arabic Scripts
  • Studied the Islamic ornament from Mr Talib al-Azzaoui
  • Organised 15 exhibitions in various cultural centres and universities
  • Writer of a book about the history of Arabic calligraphy
