ICC attends National Association of Muslim Police Event with the New Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Sir Mark Rowley

Dr Ahmad Al Dubayan - Director General of London Central Mosque & Islamic Cultural Centre was specially invited to attend the National Association of Muslim Police's event at New Scotland Yard- London to welcome the New Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Sir Mark Rowley

Sir Mark Rowley said "I feel deeply honoured to be appointed to be the Metropolitan Police Commissioner. We will deliver more trust, less crime and high standards for London and beyond and we will work with London's diverse communities as we together renew the uniquely British invention of 'policing by consent'.

Zak Hullemuth who is the chair of the Muslim Police Association spoke about the need to address the increase of hate crime within society and more specifically how we should be working together to promote a definition of Islamophobia in order to understand the rise in Islamophobic hate crime.

Dr Ahmad Al Dubayan congratulated the Commissioner of the Metropolitan police for his new role and said that the London Central Mosque & Islamic Cultural Centre was looking forward to working with the Police to raise awareness of issues and concerns within the community and to help build a more cohesive society. Dr Ahmad also said that it is important to involve Muslim thinkers such as organisations or researchers/individuals when discussing the definition of Islamophobia and other terms used by the press such as 'Islamist' and 'Islamism'.
