Conference: Islam in Victorian Britain

The Islamic Cultural Centre & London Central Mosque in partnership with Beacon Books held an event on the history of Islam during Victorian times in Britain.

The event had over 100 attendees and was opened by Dr Ahmad Al Dubayan - Director General of the Islamic Cultural Centre.

The Main topics covered included the following talks:

Tea and Trade: Contributions of a Northern Grocer-Mayor
Chistina Longden

"Seeking the Sacred; A Glimpse into Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall's Life and Works"
Sam Bartlet

"Sheikh Abdullah Quilliam and the early Liverpool Muslims (1889-1908)"
Prof. Ron Geaves

The were also talks from Reverts and their journey to Islam. Each session concluded with Question and Answer sessions.
